Oh, The Pain!

Quite recently I started regular physical workouts at the gym. It wasn't a 'New Years Resolution' or a plan to 'get slim' just something I've wanted (needed) to start doing and finally found the right support for the job. My plan is to hit the gym starting with only three or four times per week and work up from there. So far, so good. I must say, I've felt it in my muscles the day after and knew I had stretched into new boundaries. The way it seems to be working is that I work out, I feel miserably sore, then several days later I feel much better then before I worked out.

Now I've heard (or heard of) a couple Catholic priests say how the healthier and more physically active persons are more spiritually healthy. Makes sense, eh? Everything's kinda connected so if something improves, everything does :)

The way I see it, spiritually... God gives us challenges, maybe a tragedy to work through, a death in the family or maybe something more subtle like leaving some friends or loosing a job. Once we pull through these God given challenges, we become stronger. It builds character and makes us ready for the next challenge. The stronger we become (spiritually) the closer we grow to our Maker and eternal salvation.

So the pain, pays.. at least the way I see it.

God bless you in your challenges :)
