Inspiration

Inspiration! It's another one of those funny little words. It's not very hard to spell or pronounce, but it can trouble a mind until it goes crazy. You're probably thinking, "now what is this guy talking about? Perhaps I'll just close the browser before I get confused". The thing I'm talking about is the very thing that puts ideas into people's heads. It makes people stand out in a crowd, it makes people try things never tried before, it makes people walk forward when everyone else is stepping back. A true leader will never command or control his/her followers by ordering them around. No, they will lead by example and be an inspiration to those around him/her, encouraging followers to rise to new heights of achievement.

Something that has been troubling me lately is somehow related to the above. I closed my facebook account about a week and a half ago, there were only three people who actually noticed that I disappeared off the face of such a book (all three being immediate family members). Strange, I know. I wasn't using it much anyway and I figured most people didn't care what I was doing either. The thing that bothered me was that every week or two I would come to blogger, ramble on for a page or so and that's that. Some people read it regularly, others... well it doesn't matter. I get approximately 80-120 views every month and lately (this past month or two) it's dropped much lower then that. The reason for which really doesn't matter to me, as I'm not particularly interested. Anyway, to send out information to such a public place (internet, although I know it's just friends who can view it) and not receive any news from the 'outside world' so to speak, started driving me crazzyyy. I told a friend I was going to close it down as well and she protested saying I didn't know who might be inspired by what I write here. To my own ears, it sounded almost absurd that anyone could possibly be inspired by what I write, after all I don't have much for credentials to show.

Looking back, I see several instances where someone thought I had a 'great blog' or it was an 'awesome idea'. To be fully honest, I think those people who inspire us the most have no idea whatsoever that they are doing so. They go about their daily life doing their duty and serving their master. Really, anyone who inspires others in a positive manner is a true leader. If I was to make a list of all the people who inspired me and write them a short note saying thanks, I would likely spend the rest of my life doing so. The more I think about it now, the more I realize how little importance one person can have in someone else's life and yet, it could only be one sentence or one gesture which changes someone's life forever. Yes, I will continue to share expecting nothing, in the hope that some day, somewhere, somebody will read these words and not be changed in any way but go forth and inspire others to live better. After all it's the internet, I never know where this might go :)
